Info about the bowl
Almost all my turnings are started with a log or large section of a tree that for various reason was cut down. Usually disease and age. This log is from my neighbors dying black Cherry, one of my favorite woods to turn.
The first step in making a live edge bowl is to mount a face plate to the bark side of the blank.
This is where I define the outer shape of the bowl
Once I have a rough shape I make a recess into the base,
The blank is then turned around. You can see where I started to cut, hollow out the bowl.
